If you didn’t catch ITV’s 2-part documentary, ‘The Fast Fix’, here’s a brief overview. A study around diabetes and exante meal replacement products really will change the way you think about what you eat. As well as addressing all the problems that come with type 2 diabetes, it details the damaging effects diabetes has on people and how it may not be as permanent as people once thought.
Did you know that over four million people in the UK are living with type 2 diabetes?
The Fast Fix: Study on Reversing Diabetes with Low Calorie Diets
Following studies from the University of Newcastle and the University of Glasgow around whether a low calorie diet can reverse type 2 diabetes, Professor Jason Gill and obesity expert, Dr Zoe Williams, have headed-up the research behind the ITV programme. The programme followed five volunteers along their weight-loss journey, which involved them living off 800 calories (4 exante meal replacement shakes, soups and meals) per day. Initially, the volunteers were closely monitored for 4 weeks in a confined environment, then they were allowed to move home to continue the experiment.
Diabetes & exante: Why were exante meal replacement meals used in the trial?
There are a number of reasons why exante’s meal replacement range was used in the experiment. All of our meal replacement shakes, meals, bars, soups and desserts are:
- High in protein
- A complete meal replacement: 1/3 of your NRV
- High in fibre
- Contain 27 vitamins and minerals
